The big day has arrived! After three long months and hundreds of submissions, a winner was chosen in the My Perfect Union contest. And that winner was active duty Army Wounded Warrior and Purple Heart recipient Michael Brewer who nominated himself, not for any acclaim or thanks, but so that he could give the prize to someone whom he felt really deserved it. He wanted the beautiful ring to go to his wife Jill who has been his primary caregiver since he was wounded in Afghanistan. He credits her entirely with his recovery, knowing that he wouldn’t be where his is today without her eternal love and devotion. Michael and Jill have shown us what a ‘Perfect Union’ really is.
We were all moved by Michael’s story of courage and bravery and are so excited that the big moment has arrived. Michael will be receiving his ring, tonight! Our President and CEO Scott Anderson is travelling, at this very moment, in New Mexico on his way to present this very special ring, to this very special soldier.
