Create Your Own Grammy Style!

It was the second Sunday in a row that my entire household was glued to the television. However this Sunday there was nary a football in sight, although there were some fashion penalties called to be sure! Or course I am talking about the Grammys, which brings me to the subject of this post, Fergie. Now the Grammys have always been known for its lax dress-code where you’ll see everything from sequined evening gowns to fluffy ballerina inspired tutu’s, and Fergie took that to heart with her daring ensemble by renowned designer Jean Paul Gaultier.

To start with, the dress was gorgeous with head-to-toe lace and beautiful cap sleeves. Oh and it was neon orange, and by the way, it was completely see through. But don’t fret because Fergie artfully paired the gown with a black bra and granny panties. Be grateful people, the model who wore this daring number on the runway was only given a thong to wear. Now, I have to say that I liked the dress a lot, I even liked the color, but for the love of all that is good and holy, please, put a nude slip or something underneath!

But let’s move on from the dress to what is, in my mind at least, the main attraction of every red carpet look, the jewelry. In this respect, Fergie was spot on trend with her chunky gold pieces including cuff bracelet and large, hammered gold hoops. Those hoops were gorgeous and they are a fantastic staple that any jewelry wardrobe shouldn’t be without. Now I’m not saying that you should run out and buy large, shoulder-grazing hoop earrings. Those would be really expensive, and I can only imagine very heavy and not at all practical for daily wear. So, allow me to present an alternative, my ‘Love it!’ item of the day, a pair of gorgeous, statement hoop earrings. 

These hoops are the perfect takeaway from Fergie’s larger red carpet look, packing all of the punch and style in a much more wearable package. At just about an inch and a quarter in height, these earrings are the perfect size to go with day outfits like jeans and a sweater, yet they easily transition to that little black dress for cocktails. However, the best feature of these earrings is their weight. These earrings have such a presence on the ear with their diameter and width, yet they are feather light. This feature has a double bonus, for one, less gold content makes these gorgeous earring extremely economical, and secondly they’re so light that you’ll forget that you’re even wearing them, which is an extremely important thing unless you want your ears to look like this.

So take my advice, buy these stunning gold hoops. Be on trend; don’t let your earlobes look like that guys. That is, unless you are that guy and that’s the look you’re going for in which case, more power to you, and you should still buy these hoops and rock them in your giant earlobes. Hey, I could be starting a new trend! Or not. But hey, whatever your personal style, these hoops are the perfect way to make the trends of this year's Grammys your own!
